My bed & I
View: My Bed & I web clip
The installation includes a 13.30 minutes video, one brass headboard, two Régence bergères, a pair of Biscuit statuettes and a wardrobe full of clothes, shoes and other personal belongings, perfectly arranged and classified in a 4 x 4 m. room.
Alma Porry Pastorel was born in Rome on September 15, 1914. In the late fifties she moved to Mexico City. A few years later, perfectly healthy, she started organizing her whole life from her bed, which she decided never to leave again.
Every afternoon, family and friends gathered around her bed to talk about and laugh at life, She ended up hosting a sort of salon. To do so, she had to be presentable: every single morning, she carried out – from her bed still -the thorough ritual of dressing up, putting on perfume and applying her make up.
Installation Description
Among a brass headboard, two Régence bergères, a pair of Biscuit statuettes and other women personal belongings, a series of vintage designer clothes are hanging perfectly aligned, across a 4 x 4 m. room. Over the walls a video is projected.

The Niño Fidencio & his Brothers in Light
In the twenties, in the town of Espinazo, Nuevo León, in northern Mexico, José de Jesús Fidencio Síntora Constantino, better known as “Niño Fidencio“, earned a reputation as a miraculous healer. Since 1938, the year in which he died, a few chosen people, known as Materias (Matter, in opposition to Spirit) or Cajitas (Little Boxes), began receiving the Niño’s spirit, thus perpetuating his charitable work as a medicine man. Currently, some espíritus de luz (Spirits of Light) are becoming manifest through other Materias or Cajitas, such as Margarita Catalán, Aurorita, the Santo Niño de Atocha and Pancho Villa, who come twice a year to the sacred sites in Espinazo -The Pirulito tree, the muddy waters of El Charquito, the swing and the cementery- and in solemn pilgrimage, climb up the Cuesta del Dolor (Path of Sorrow), all the way to the Niño’s grave, in order to fulfill the healing rituals for their sick ones.
